5 steps to add BNB to MetaMask

There are different popular names in the crypto world, but not all platforms are as famous as Binance. And the platform gained all of this name and fame because of several reasons. In addition, to let you trade crypto assets, it also allows you to run apps that are based on smart contracts with the help of two different chains- Binance Chain and Binance Smart Chains (BSC).

If you have ever used MetaMask, then you might be aware of the fact that you can easily store Ethereum-compatible crypto assets on it such as ERC20. In a similar manner, you can add BNB to MetaMask through the usage of Binance Smart Chain.

Why should you Add BNB to MetaMask

There are different benefits that you can derive after connecting BNB to MetaMask. Once you add BNB to MetaMask, here is what you can do:

  • Just like MetaMask gives you access to explore different Decentralized applications, you will get the option to use all the apps based on Binance Smart Chain by adding BNB to MetaMask
  • If you wish to transfer ETH or BNB tokens to MetaMask, then you can easily do so after adding BNB to MetaMask
  • And, if you have purchased any token through the Binance Smart Chain or Coinb, then MetaMask would be a great choice for its storage

Moving on, let us now learn the steps to add BNB to MetaMask. But wait, before that you need to add Binance Smart Chain to MetaMask.

Here's how to add BSC to MetaMask

Step 1- Download, install and set up the MetaMask wallet

Step 2- Go to the "Network" page of MetaMask > select "Add Network" > enter the following details

Mainnet

  • Network Name: Smart Chain
  • New RPC URL: https://bsc-dataseed.binance.org/
  • ChainID: 56
  • Symbol: BNB
  • Block Explorer URL: https://bscscan.com

Testnet

  • Network Name: Smart Chain - Testnet
  • New RPC URL: https://data-seed-prebsc-1-s1.binance.org:8545/
  • ChainID: 97
  • Symbol: BNB
  • Block Explorer URL: https://testnet.bscscan.com

Step 3- now, the BNB icon will be available next to your BNB balance

Step 4- Now you can fund your wallet with one of the tokens based on BSC

Step 5- Here are the steps to do so:

  1. First, you need to open the MetaMask wallet on your device
  2. Go to the network menu and select Binance Smart Chain
  3. After that, select the "Import Tokens" option > "Import Custom Token"

Whether you wish to add a $CAKE or $BAKE token to MetaMask, you need to first add Binance Smart Chain to MetaMask's "Network" section. Without adding the smart chain, you won't be able to store crypto tokens other than the Ethereum blockchain.

Final words:

When we refer to the Ethereum ecosystem, the first name that strikes our mind is "MetaMask." But, did you know you can add custom tokens to MetaMask that are not based on the Ethereum blockchain? Well, the answer is yes and that is why we came up with this informative read to help you out in that matter. The read talks about the way through which you can add BNB to MetaMask and start adding tokens based on Binance Smart Chain to MetaMask. While entering the network details, make sure to be extra cautious as it contains sensitive pieces of information.
